Do you do SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?

All of our websites are optimised for search engines, and include standard SEO features which will allow your site to be more easily found and ranked more highly.

Do you register websites with the Search Engines?

All of our websites are registered with search engines. The process of appearing in search engine listings can take several months, although usually it happens in 1-2 weeks.

Will you do my photography for me?

To keep costs down, we ask you to provide your own content for your website - the text and photography. We can provide basic photography if you wish - this would involve an extra charge plus travel. If you have a basic digital camera you can do any photography yourself and supply the images to us.

Can I put my company logo on the website?

Of course - you can supply us this with your website content. Ideally it should be high quality and as sharp as possible so we can work with it. If you don't have a company logo we can design a simple one for a small charge.

Is there any charge for website changes?

We charge a very reasonable fee for website updates. However, as you will own your website on completion, you're quite welcome to use another web designer if you wish.

What is hosting and a domain name and why do I need these?

A domain name is the name of your website (e.g. www.basic-websites.co.uk). You need this so your visitors can find you. Your website must also be hosted somewhere, this service is provided by a hosting company for a small monthly fee. Domain names cost around £5-£10 per year (you can sometimes get them free). Hosting costs around £2-£5 per month. We can point you in the direction of a reputable supplier for both of these.

Why don't you do animation (Flash) etc?

Animations take time to build and can be expensive. In order to keep the cost of websites down we don't do animations and fancy graphics as standard. In general, animations (Flash etc.) add nothing to a website and make the website pages load more slowly.
